Very Computer

I have an 8MB Savage4 card.

I just installed Mandrake 7.0 which includes XFree 3.3.6.

I can get into X with no problems, but attempting to exit X,
or return to one of the consoles locks up the machine.

Are you sure?  XFree86 3.3.6 is less than a week old.  I'd be surprised if
it was actually in one of the distributions already.  Of course, I didn't
think Mandrake 7.0 had been released yet, either.

There were several return-to-console bugs in the 3.3.5 release, but I
thought they were all nailed in 3.3.6.  Can you put the XF86_SVGA binary on
an FTP site somewhere for me to download and try out?

I'm as sure as I can be.

If you check the Mandrake site, you will see that 3.3.6 is one of the
features of 7.0.  After installation, I saw XFree display its version
as 336.

I downloaded an ISO image.
