Hi
I have never seen that! I have a stealth 3240 with 2 Meg VRAM and I am
using it in 1024x768 and it goes all the way up to 1600x1200 I think
with 4 MegVRAM.

Hi,
I am in the market for a new PCI video card. I was wondering if anybody
could tell me if the Diamond Stealth 64 (2Mb VRAM) will support modes
greater than 640x480. Reading the readme files supplied with XFree86-3.1.2
it seems it will if we use an S3 server. But the sentiment in this news group
seems to point to the fact that it won't, or it will but in certain wierd
configurations.
Thanks in Advance
Dima

Modeline "1280x1024" 130 1280 1336 1440 1616 1024 1027 1030 1056
That should be easily within spec for a V21PS, and you shouldn't notice a
flicker with a 76Hz refresh. IMHO, 1152x864 is a better choice, though.
With that, you can get 16bpp out of 2MB of RAM. Try
Modeline "1152x864" 110 1152 1200 1392 1448 864 870 872 907
Of course, use xvidtune to make the necessary adjustments to match your
monitor.

Remember to use the Early_SC option in the Screens section of the
XF86Config if you use this card otherwise you'll get screen wrap.

Modes "640x480" "800x600" "1024x768" "1024x768i" "1280x1024"
These are the main modes supported at 8 bit/pix
All but the higest mode is also supported at 16 and 24 bpp.
I normally use 16 bpp at 1024x768 interlaced. The card supports modes
higher than my monitor's capabilities.

1. Setting up Diamond Stealth 64 Video (2MB VRAM) under XF3.1.2.
Hi all,
Well after blowing up my old card quite successfully I went out and bought
a new card. I got a good price on a Diamond Stealth 64 Video with 2MB VRAM.
I've ftped down XFree3.1.2, and installed that correctly. I can get
the card working at 640x480, and 800x600, yet 1024x768 leaves me
in a spin....
Wondering if anyone has a working XConfig file I can beg/borrow/steal?
Or even some pointers to look out for. I'm using a no-frills SVGA
monitor, that has had the card firing at 1280X1024 under Windows3.11.
I presume I should be able to match this under XF3.1.2.
NB: I can't keep up with the traffic of these groups, however I will
post a summary.
Regards,
Matt.
