I am a newbie with Linux, as I migrated from a Mac to a PC.
I installed Linux a month ago with no success regarding X, because the
drivers were not ready for the AiW.
With some help from my knowledgeable Linux friends + the FAQ from the
www.xfree86.org, I got it working perfectly with my all-in-wonder.
Step 1.
Get the 3.3 X server for Mach64.
Step 2.
Start with a vanilla config file (in /etc/X11/). No need to run
SuperProbe or XF86Config, just vi the file.
Step 3.
Follow the instructions from the FAQ
http://www.xfree86.org/FAQ/index.html#MACH64-RAGE2

Q.F14- Mach64 RAGE II
Cards based on the Mach64 original Rage II chipset are supported by the
current release.
For the new "Rage II + DVD" chips (used on cards like the ATI
All-in-Wonder and 3D Xpression+ PC2TV), you can add
these two lines to the Device section of the XF86Config file to make the
server treat it as an original "Rage II" chip:
ChipId 0x4754
ChipRev 0x01
This may work with the "Rage II Pro" too.

BTW, as a newbie I also misinstalled some parts of the 3.3 release. I
don't know what I did wrong - running SuperProbe or XF86Config, or maybe
something else- but I got a system halt and an unbootable computer
under Windows 95.
It took a full Win95 re-install to get my machine running under the
inferior OS.
