Cirrus Logic GD5424 and OpenLinux 1.3 X Setup

Post by The R » Thu, 10 Jun 1999 04:00:00

Help! My problem is: I have a Cirrus Logic GD5424 (I think it is 1024K, but
possibly 512K), on a 486/66 with 24Mb RAM. I have installed Open Linux 1.3,
and I am up to the stage where i have to set-up XF86Setup. When I choose my
graphics card, and resolution everything works fine, until try to run KDE.
It tells me lots of info about 640x480 not being a valid mode. I have had it
working in 320x240 (a bit too big for the screen!) I have tried many
different combinations of res and colours, but it still doesn't work. I have
it set up using the SVGA Server drivers, and the CLGD5424 chipset. I have
tried it with the generic chipset (with that I can get into KDE in 320x240)
Not knowing much about Linux, i have no idea what to do next. Please help!

Thanks in advance

Tom

Tom,

I having lots of problems trying to get X running on my system with a GD5424.

Could you please e-mail me a copy of your XF86Config file, it might indicate
where I am going wrong.

Thanks,

Chris
