Diamond Stealth S3 Vision 968 aka Diamond GT

Post by Christopher S Tayl » Sun, 13 Oct 1996 04:00:00

I've tried to figure out how to set up this video card for X, but with
no success.  I think I've read every FAQ on the Web, and still I
haven't gotten X-Windows running.  I need to know how to set up the
config file for a Diamond Stealth S3 Vision 968 with 2Mb VRAM.  While
I'm on the topic, my monitor is a Sony Multiscan 17sf.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

--Chris

that is my XF86Config file. copy it to /usr/X11/lib/X11/XF86Config. then
read through the docs to find appropriate entries for your monitor, or hope
that mine work. (i have a generic micron 17")

Hi Chris,
I am using a similar setup except with a Mag DX17F.  Why don't you
post your XF86Config here so we can get some better clues about your
problem.  In the meanwhile, I'll send you mine by e-mail.

It would also be a good idea to post the rest of your system setup.
ie. What version of X11, What distribution etc.

1. Diamond Stealth s3 vision 968, ramdac ibm rgb526

Hi,

I have a Diamond Stealth Video 3240/3400 series with 2mo Vram, chipset
S3 vision
968, and ramdac ibm rgb526.
When i run startx, monitor does not receive any signal and i have to
reboot.
The problem occurs with S3 server, and also with SVGA server. I only
have
succeeded in 320*200...
While reading articles, it seems like i'm not the only one.
I've already configured PCs with others Diamond Stealth VRAM (964), and
they
worked. Right now i do not understand.
Any solution?

Thanks.
