If you are reasonably knowledgable about Linux, try this site
(http://www.mnsinc.com/js/Neomagic.html).  It is very conprehensive but
if you are newbie like me, it can get a bit confusing.

I installed Linux 5.0 on an IBM ThinkPad 600 which uses a NeoMagic video chip.
I used the XBF X-server from RedHat.  Works like a champ.  It installs on
XFree86 3.3.2.  I had other problems installing Linux on this ThinkPad but the
X-server installed without any problems.

does anyone know whether Xfree86 Rel 3.2 supports NeoMagic Graphics
chips for Notebooks ? Has anyone written a driver yet ?
