X11 support for Adobe Multiple-master fonts?

Post by Robert S. Mai » Thu, 12 Sep 1996 04:00:00

The Type 1 font rasterizer in X11R6 (the version distributed with XFree86
3.1.2, at least) supports anamorphically scaled fonts, but not
multiple-master fonts.

The XLFD documentation accompanying X11R6 discusses how the XLFD
[X Logical Font Description] naming scheme was extended to accommodate
multiple-master fonts.  Does an X11 type 1 rasterizer that supports
multiple-mastering actually exist?

Thanks in advance.

Well, at least, as ghostscript does, you can rasterize an occurence of
an MM font  with it : a path that works (slowly...) is gsftopk
(requires some TeX knowledge) + pktobdf or maybe you have more direct
paths with gs. Not _that_ user friendly however.
