Connection Speed Dropping

Hello,

I seem to have an internet connection problem with my modem.  Using RedHat
5.0, KDE and a V.90 Zoom Internal Fax Modem.  I can connect fine, and use
Netscape Communicator fine, I even connect at a rather good speed ( about 44
000 - 46 000 ) but as soon as I download anything anywhere, it slowly drops
from 2k/sec ( already low ) to about 300 bytes/second and stays there.  Same
thing when a large web page is loading, the loading speed slowly drops to
about nothing.  Odd thing is the modem works fine under win98 and NT4.  I'd
rather use it under Linux though.  Any help appreciated.

Just a "me too"....  But I saw somewhere in the kernel
developer's mailing list that the problem has something
to do with ppp and pppd.  There's some sort of "sliding
window" connection protocol that casues the problem.

I haven't had time to check the source code and
figure it out.  Does someone else have a clue???

Regards
