*Color* Netscape w/VGA 16 possible?

*Color* Netscape w/VGA 16 possible?

Post by Duncan D. Sterli » Thu, 20 Jul 1995 04:00:00

I'm running a Trident 9440 AGI/VLB  SVGA card with 1 meg.  The best resolution
I can get with the SVGA Server is that goofy, weird 320 x something
resolution, which is effectively worthless.

The VGA 16 server works fine, but when I run netscape, it tells me that it can
only run in black and white unless I use the '-visual' switch, and specify one
of the 'visuals' listed. 'xdpyinfo' is of little or no help.

Anyone know a way around this problem?

Thanks,
Duncan

1. How to set Xwindows into VGA 16-color mode ?

I also envisage having the same problem as my video card is not on the list
of Linux supported cards.  I would appreciate it if the answer could be
posted in the group...
