How about reading README.S3 (I suppose you have a MirageP64 with a 20/21c498
and ICS2595 clockchip):

S3 864, 20C498 or 21C498 RAMDAC, ICS2595 Clockchip

o SPEA MirageP64 2MB DRAM

8 and 15/16 bpp

ClockChip ``ICS2595''

Clockchip support is only preliminary and on some machines
problems with the first mode after startup of XF86_S3 or after
switching back from VT have been seen; switching to next mode
with CTRL+ALT+``+'' and back seems to solve this problem

If you really have the MirageP64 with S3 SDAC (Bios 4.xx), I'd be interested
what other problems do exist with that card.

If you really have the MirageP64 with S3 SDAC (detected by XF86_S3) you need a

Clockchip "s3_sdac"

If this works, but the cursor looks funny and some bitmaps are not drawn
correctly, try

Option "nolinear"

Theses settings work for a friend of mine (not quite: the system crashes after
some minutes to ~30 minutes with vertical stripes on the screen (machine does not
respond to ping anymore). I am not sure wether that is a problem with the graphic
card or with the main board. I'd be interested if you get a working configuration
or if you have similar problems.)
