NeoMagic NM2090 chipset?

Post by Eugene Aniki » Sun, 09 Feb 1997 04:00:00

I am trying to install Linux on Compaq presario 1020.
It uses Magic Graph 128V accelerator based on Neo Magic NM2090
chip. Did anyone hear if it is supprorted and how do I set it
up?

Eugene.

Hi,

Did you get an answer to your question?  On a similar note I'm trying to
install X on a Dell laptop with the Neo Magic card  :-)

Cheers,

Jayce.

I too have a Hitachi notebook with a neomagic card. It is apparently
not yet supported by any of the free distributions. However there
is commercial support by a company called xinside and I might
eventually buy their accelerated-x server unless someone has
a better suggestion.

Neo Magic chip is supposedly supported by Accelerated X
(see www.lasermoom.co.uk)

I set up slackware on a dell dimension with this chip using XFree86 but it ment
that the screen resolutions were pretty poor.

If you want I can pass on some web pages I found pretty useful.
