S3 Trio64V+ PCI with 2 megs...

Post by Bria » Tue, 15 Jun 1999 04:00:00

Hi:

I am running XFree86 version 3.3.3.1 using the S3 Xserver
(generic S3 Trio64V+ PCI with 2 megs) on a Slackware 4.0
distro and 2.2.9 kernel.

The problem is that there is an odd pattern of two sketchy
parallel lines that often follows the cursor around (to the
right and just below the cursor).

e.g.

        ^     (cursor)
          | | (sketchy lines)
          | :

(sort of like this)

Any ideas, suggestions, recommendations, leads, websites
and/or advice?

Best regards,

Brian

S3 Trio64V+ PCI with 2 megs...

Hi Folks:

Just a quick note to let you know a solution was found
thanks to the guiding light provided by Ray Ingles.

The problem was that I was initiating gpm (general purpose
mouse) in my /etc/rc.d/rc.local file.

I just commented out the line (for next reboot - could be
weeks) and killed gpm.

No more little lines following my cursor.

Thanks again Ray,

Brian

1. S3 Trio64V+ PCI w/ NEC MultiSync XV17

I have been trying to get X Windows up with a S3 Trio64+PCI graphics
card and a NEC MultiSync XV17 monitor to no avail!

The screen goes blank; the Cntrl+Alt+BS does not kill the server; and
one has to hard reset the system, which results in corrupted file
system after several attempts!!!

My response from X -probeonly  below:

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
