NEC Multisync 3D (interlaced), ET4000 Xconfig needed...

Post by Ernie Opor » Sun, 25 Jun 1995 04:00:00

A couple of years ago, someone mailed me an Xconfig file for this monitor
and video card.  The file worked great at 1024 x 768 and I used X happily
on my Linux box for the longest time.  A recent problem with my hard
drive (I wrote to a DOS partition and it ended up erasing my X11 trees
and overwrote a mess of other stuff; never happened before or ever again.)
made me lose my Xconfig file, and what I had thought was backed up on tape,
was actually not.  It's gone forever.

Can anyone help me out?  The XF86Config program I have is from over half
a year ago, and only gives me 640x480, which is terrible to work with.
That's when I choose a NEC 3D, which may not even be the right monitor.
I'll look for a newer version of XF86Config, but if anyone can help me
out, please PLEASE *PLEASE* send me an Xconfig file for the above setup.

Many thanks in advance.

1. Sol'n: Xconfig for NEC Multisync 3D and Tseng ET4000

I posted a question on Xconfig for my setup a couple of weeks ago,
and I got a few replies.  I was able to take them and put together
a working Xconfig file.  A couple of people had asked questions
on this same monitor or this same board, so I thought I'd post my
solution.  For some reason, /dev/mouse did not work for the mouse
directory, so I had to use /dev/cua0 for it.  Also, I cannot use
my monitor's 1024x768 mode, which might not be that important since
it looks nice as it is in 800x600 mode.  Anyway, if anyone can be of
further help, I'd really appreciate it.  Thanks for the help so far.
Reading this group for a couple of weeks can be a good learning
experience, and it's really helped me out in putting this system
together.  Hopefully, I'm ready to run with it...
