I startx and it gives 1024x768. My hardware we also do 800x600 and
640x48. The <alt+ctl++> and <alt+ctl+-> sequences do nothing. I would
appreciate suggestions on how to get to other resolutions.
You'll need some extra info in the "Screen" section of your
/etc/X11/XF86Config -- for example, here's mine:
Section "Screen"
Driver "svga"
Device "Mystique G200"
Monitor "NEC MultiSync E500"
Subsection "Display"
Depth 32
Modes "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480" "1152x864"
ViewPort 0 0
Virtual 1024 768
EndSubsection
EndSection
The 'Modes' line is where your problem most likely lies. Just add the
resolutions you want there (and make sure they're defined somewhere in
the "Monitor" section).
Hope this helps,

1. Changing screen resolution AND virtual resolution?
Hi,
Does someone know if it is (or is not!) possible to change both the
screen resolution AND the virtual screen resolution at the same time
with the Ctrl+Alt+Keypad-Plus/Ctrl+Alt+Keypad-Minus keystrokes? I
typically run at 1024x768 but would like to be able to change to 800x600
or 600x480, but without getting the "scrolling" virtual screen as a side
effect.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Max.
