Hi,
I have a Mach64 card...and like everyone else I can't get it to work
properly. My question is if I can get some form of X up (possibly
not accelerated, but regular SVGA), I'd even accept 640x480 as a starting
place.
I don't have the RAMDAC chip that everyone else mentions,
SuperProbe on my system reports:
First video: Super-VGA
Chipset: ATI (chipset unknown)
Signature data: 5b (please report)
Memory: 0 Kbytes
RAMDAC: Generic 8-bit pseudo-color DAC
(with 6-bit wide lookup tables (or in 6-bit mode))
Attached graphics coprocessor:
Chipset: ATI Mach64
Memory: 2048 Kbytes
Nevertheless, when I try to run the XF86_Mach64 server, the screen goes
blank, but the computer doesn't die. I think it sets the monitor in a
funny mode, but then killing X doesn't set it back. The only way to get
back to text is to Alt-Ctrl-Delete it.
The output when I try to run the X-server is:
XFree86 Version 3.1.2 / X Window System
(protocol Version 11, revision 0, vendor release 6000)
Operating System: Linux
Configured drivers:

(using VT number 7)
XF86Config: /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/XF86Config The other potential problem is that have a MAG DX17F monitor, where I don't Eric Boyd
