Very Computer

Hi

I'm trying to get a Samsung 19" monitor to work with Mandrake 6.1, yet I
just can't get any X server to work!

System:

Intel PII-350
256MB SDRAM
9GB IBM SCSI HDD
Adaptec 2940UW Pro
S3 Trio 3D AGP VGA
Samsung SyncMaster 900p monitor

I've read the mini-HOWTO on X video (ie refresh rates, modelines, etc, but I
can't seem to get a modeline that will display properly.

I also can't get the technical specs for the S3 card, so it's pretty
difficult trying to guess the sync settings.

Assuming your gfx-card also works with the VGA-resolution (640x480 pix,
16 colors) you might set up your X-Server interactively with XF86Setup.
