XFree86 3.1 and Diamond Viper VLB/CrystalScan prbs

Post by Steve Berri » Sat, 25 Mar 1995 23:27:54

I'm a newbie to Linux and XFree86.  I'm having trouble getting X up and
running with my XFConfig file.

My hardware:

Gateway 2000 486DX 66V
Monitor: CrystalScan 1572FS (supported by XFree86 3.1)
Video Card: Diamond Viper VLB, 2 MB (uses P9000, also supported)
Slackware 2.1

I think I have most setup properly. What I don't have is the clock speeds.
I can't use: X -probeonly since this is programmable

I've guessed at the clock speeds by using what is contained in the XF86_P9000
man page as an example for the Diamond Viper VLB.  Using this, my screen comes
up with narrow horizontal lines and distortions, then it settles into
the 480X680 mode (I think).  But at that point the mouse (cursor) doesn't move.
It's just a Microsoft mouse connnected to COM2 and installed as such using
Slackware 2.1 setup.

To be honest, I'm still confused by some of the documentation.

Anyone else have this video board/monitor combination?

I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks,
steve
