Hi,

Does anyone know where I can get a linux driver for the canon
bjc-4000.  A combo bjc-600/bjc-4000 driver was included with linux,
saying that it should work with the 4000 but was untested.  I've tested
it, it doesn't.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a MPC2500, of which the printer part works like the bjc-4100
according to Canon.  The bjc-600 ghostscript driver works just fine, and
I've seen many reports of it working with 4000, 4100, 4200, etc.

Ditto on the bjc-600 ghostscript driver. I use it now with a BJC-4000
printer. I used it many years ago before all the fancy "print filters",
when I decided to use redhat's print filters I had to upgrade to the
latest version of ghostscript at the time. The filter is installed via
their gui tool.

The version of ghostscript you use has to match what the print filter
sends it. Some may send commands your version doesn't understand.

I have a Canon BJC 4200, and I have it working fine with the Canon 600 print
filter under Red Hat 5.0.
I use the Floyd Steinberg filters - separate ones depending on whether you
are using a Color or B&W catridge.

Cheers,
Stefan

1. Canon BJC-4000 Printer: What Printer Driver Do I Use for Postscript Translation?

I'd like to print straight from Linux, and do all word processing and
so forth.  But, I dunno if there's a special Canon driver, since the generic
Epson one is _SLOW_ and looks awful.

Is there a special driver for this printer via GhostScript?
