Very Computer

I'm in the process of getting Linux set up on my computer at home. Because
I didn't want to repartition the hard drive (for a variety of reasons), I
downloaded a UMSDOS distribution called xDenu. Now I'm trying to get
XFree86 for it, but ran into a problem. I have to choose between the Elf
and the a.out binaries, and don't know which I should get, or even what the
difference is. Any help would be much appreciated.

a.out and elf are file formats for executables,

if your using a newer version of Linux then the chances are that it will support ELF.
a.out is the old format.

If you not sure then most new versions of Linux will support files of both formats,
but older versions will only support a.out.

Generally speaking ELF IS BETTER.  Try it, if it doesn't work (which is possiabily
unlightly), then get the a.out.
