Try xli. I'm using a PL16 version, but on Sunsite you should find
   mirrors/sunsite/X11/xapps/graphics/viewers/xli-linux.1.15.tar.gz

Xli is only for image viewing, and significantly faster compared to xv.

hope this helps

: : Is anyone aware of a faster gif and jpg viewer for X? XV is slow on my
: : system. Thanks.

: There's xli.  As I recall, xli doesn't have an X interface (you run it from
: the command line, like 'xli pic.jpg'), but it displays pictures in an
: X window.  It has a number of nice display options as I recall (gamma
: adjustment, etc.).  You should be able to find it at any Linux mirror
: that has X apps (like sunsite.unc.edu and its mirrors).  xli is pretty
: fast I recall (and that was on a 486-33 with 8 MB RAM).

xli is nice for X.  Yet I think nothing beats zgv in speed if you can
live with an SVGA viewer....  I thsould be on your sunsite under
apps/graphics/viewers, i think.  I believe it is on version 2.7.?

Faster GIF and JPG viewer for Linux?

Hi,
I am not able to change to a higher resolution. I have a Diamond stealth 32 with 2meg of memory. I used the generic setting for the video card and monitor because
neither of them were avaible as selections to choose from during the setup.
I have a 17 in Ambra Multi-sync monitor and a Diamond Stealth 32  w/2meg of memory.
I do not know how to configure the Xconfig file to make it work. I have no idea what
the clock rates are for this video board. I am able to get XF86 to run at the 640x480
resolution only. Does anyone know how to get this to work at higher resolutions.
I am using the Caldera release II cd, with uses the Redhat linux software.
