If you are installing new fonts. You generally may put them in any place
and use xset to tell X where you put them. I don't know about True Type
Fonts though.

these also include info on installing True Type Fonts? I want to use

The font handling should be the same across all distributions;
basically, if you want True Type fonts, you'll have to install a font
server. The Font Deuglification HOWTO explains the whole procedure
pretty well.

OK, now I'm confused. I've got RH 6.0 and understood that it now had
TrueType support through xfs. Do you still need to follow the X
Deuglification HowTo and install xfstt?

No joke, You aren't the only one who is confused. I will give up on it for
the weekend as I have some friends who want to mess around with a boat this
weekend and watch fireworks and drink beer and ... Oh well I will check
back sun night to see if anything new has come of this thread.

No, I think they are equivalent. But the Deuglification HOWTO describes
xfstt, so that's the one I use. But if you can find documentation for
xfs, it should work just as well.

Anybody know where there is such a concise description of xfs as the one
in the deuglification HowTo? This was great!

Jason,

Thanks for the info. That really helps.

You might want to take a look at:

and see if that helps
