Can't use 16-bit, 32-bit modes

Can't use 16-bit, 32-bit modes

Post by Old M » Fri, 06 Sep 1996 04:00:00

I'm using the Trident TGUI9440 cards, with the latest X11R6 binary 3.1.2G.

I have specified resolutions with the 16, and 32 bit modes, but I can't
seem to use them.  Does anyone else have this problem, or maybe a
solution?

Thanks.

Trident 9440 and above support 8bpp and 16bpp mode.
If you want to run x in 16 bpp mode, x must run in linear mode.
In pci board it is on by default.
but in non-pci board you must add Option "linear" and/or MemBase
address in XF86Config.
For more information, see /usr/X11/lib/X11/doc/README.trident.
