Trident 9440 problem

Post by Paul W. Bo » Wed, 10 Jan 1996 04:00:00

I have seen all these posts regarding the Trident  9440agi chip, and
thought that I would join the fray.

Has anyone got this to work?  I installed the XF86_SVGA from the
location ftp://ftp.xfree86.org/pub/XFree86/3.1.2B/elf/X321BSVGA.tgz

After running xf86config, when I start X, I get the message telling me
to remove the Clocks line from XF86Config, and X stops.  After
commenting out all the clocks lines, I still get the same message.

I would be extremely grateful for any input as to what is going on.

Trident 9440 problem

Hi,
I downloaded the same thing last night and have had no problems, I did see the
remove clocks line and did just what it asked me to, I completely removed
the clocks lines.  Try setting it up as an s3 accelerated card and it should
work.  It is almost as though the new beta server, ignores any lines that
are commented out.

Hmmm

I have trident tgui96xx PCI video card with 2MB ram.
Any support for that card on XFree3.1.2 ?
Thanks

You have it set up as an s3 accelerated card, and it works? What kind of
results are you getting from that? Anything better than 1024x768x256 (either
resolution or colors)?
