What would be involved in using lib3d as the 3D engine in VRWeb?
Put another way, where do I send the beer to speed this? :)

1. lib3d-0.1.2 - Fast, Free 3d

I've just uploaded the second distribution of lib3d to sunsite.

Changes this version include
        - 40-50% performance improvement on version 0.1.1.
        - reader for TAGL style .geom files.
        - bug fixes.

Timings on a Pentium 100,
             300x300x8bpp dithered visual,
             Z buffer,
             ambient+diffuse lighting,
no precalculated lighting or other dirty tricks:

        - rotating 3751 polygon teapot
                no clipping: 138k poly/sec 37fps
                   clipping: 102k poly/sec 27fps

        - rotating 240 poly teapot
                 no clipping: 38k poly/sec, 160fps
                    clipping: 20k poly/sec, 80fps

Compared to other free renderers, lib3d is 2-3 times as fast as TAGL
v2.2 and many :) times as fast as Mesa.

lib3d-0.1.2 can be found at:

        ftp://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/Incoming/lib3d-0.1.2.tar.gz

and also available from my home page:

The original upload for version 0.1.1 went missing after a couple of
days on sunsite, but has remained in place since then.  This may have
been due to a buggy lsm.  Apologies to all who were inconvenienced.

Here's the lsm:
Begin3

Description:    Very fast z-buffer rendering library with an api optimized for
software implementation.  Provides flat shading with ambient -
directional lighting.  Includes two teapot demonstrations.

                Currently makes 138,000 polygons/sec rendering a 3751 polygon
                teapot (37 frames/sec) on a P100.
