I have a small problem with xfilemanager under X for the 5 discs Slackware
distribution. When I click for xfilemanager, the first window comes up and the
second one and immediatly, the two windows disappear.
What can I do to overcome this problem?

I've been having the same problem. xfilemanager seg-v's whenver I try to
run it, and I suppose that's what's happening to you too.
