Verite Support in X???

Verite Support in X???

Post by George A. Puchalsk » Tue, 16 Sep 1997 04:00:00

I am in the process of shopping around for a new video card.  My
list is down

Rendition Verite V2200 chip.  The verite has a clear edge in 3-d game
but if it doesn't have any support for X...

Is there any support (commercial included) for the verite card under
Linux?  The
Verite V1000 has been out for quite a while but I cannot find support
listed for this
card at, or

I won't be purchasing anything for at least 6 weeks.

The current version of XFree86 has support for the a card labeled "Creative
Labs 3D Blaster PCI (Verite 1000)"  Perhaps this will work?

1. Verite V1000 support in XF86/SVGALib

I just purchased one of these cards, and for Quake it really kicks ass,
however I soon was suprised that Rendition (The maker of the chip)
requires a NDA to program the chip.... Have these twits just pulled
another Diamond???  Somehow I really don't see it's VESA 2.0 support
being much good under linux, so we would need direct programming to
support the card....   Does anyone know of a work in progress for this
card (I really could not find one!) or if anyone is interessted we could
petition for the removal of the NDA, or get enough to drive the card
under a GNU CopyLeft kind of deal...

There NDA stuff is

Thanks for any, or all support
