Fragmented display - Mach 64 Rage LT Pro AGP2X / laptop 1024x768 LCD display

I am trying to setup XF86 on my laptop. I have a Mach 64 Rage LT Pro AGP2X
video card (according to Win98). My display is a 1024x768 display. Using
XF86Setup, I select Mach64 server, 4MB vram (I know I have more than this),
Internal RAMDAC, and 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 display modes. I have
tried - among others - Standard VGA and LCD 1024x768 monitor types.

In all cases, I get a screen which is fragmented so that the left half of
the screen is mirrored on the right half. When I move the mouse, I see it
moving on both sides of the screen.

I am running RedHat 5.3 (installed using Mandrake 5.3). I believe I am
running XF86 3.3.3.1 - though I am not sure how to confirm this.

Does anybody have any ideas. I have spent many, many hours trying to figure
this out to no avail. Please, please, please, can somebody help me?

Thanks in advance for any assistance,

1. ATI Rage LT Pro with Princeton DPP500 LCD Display

Hello experts,
is there anybody who configured this combination? I have tried the mach64
server with the  ChipId 0x4755 option but it didn't work.
The only solution i found was the Xig-Laptop-server which can be downloaded for
a 10-minute test, but it cost nearly 200$.
My System is a 350 Pentium II on ASUS P2B running S.u.S.E. Linux 5.3
