lots' o snow w/ Stealth Video Vram

Hey

I have recently purchased a Stealth 64 Video vram cause of my difficulties
getting this proprietary TSeng labs thing to work.  Anyhow, I am using the
Ti3026 Ramdac and no clockchip (Didn't know what to use for that).  and of
course the S3 server.  (This card uses the s3968).  So X works fine except for
a HUGE amount of snow on the screen, especially when I open an application or
picture.  Anyone out there have any ideas about what the problem is likely to
be?  Other than the snow, everything appears to be fine.

Thanks in advance,

Dan

try using Option "Diamond" and/or "slow_vram" first.
if this doesn't help send complete server output.

1. HELP!: "snow" in XFree w/ Stealth 64 VRAM (964)

I get "snow" on my screen! I can still see XFree3.1.1 underneath
but the misplaced pixels (snow) gets worse as I move windows
around. The following info is correct:
                Diamond Stealth 2Meg VRAM
                S3Vision 964
                ClockChip "icd2061a"
                RAMDAC    "Bt485"
                ChipsetDriver "mmio_928"
                option "dac_8_bit"

I can see these chips on the videocard and "SuperProbe" or
"X -probeonly" has given me the rest. There is a blurb about
snow and the 864 chip at the XFree website, and I tried the
"s3MCLK 50" and "s3MCLK 55" options. They didn't do anything.
Besides, mine is a 964 not a 864.  If anyone has seen and fixed
this or knows what is causing it, I would appreciate knowing
how you got rid of it.

                        Sincerely,
                        Mark Vojkovich
