Does anyone run Linux on a DELL system with the Diamond Permedia 2 MB 3D
AGP graphics card option? Does the XSuSE_Elsa_GLoria or some other
x-server work (well?) with this card? I finally wonder if the card is,
what on Diamond's homepage is referred to as Fire GL 1000 or if it's a
special OEM variant of it.

I have a Fire GL 1000 and it is based on the Permedia P2 and is a different
OEM version than the retail product. I believe that XSuSE_Elsa_GLoria also
handles the regular Diamond Permedia 2. It appears to work well after an
initial installation, as I have installed it today.

I am going to post more detailed instructions on how to set it up, since
others have asked.

The XSuSE_Elsa_GLoria Server works VERY well on my XPSR 400 with the Fire
GL 100 pro and a 21" monitor.

The card is the Diamond OEM version, the only difference is that it does not
have 3d glasses output.

i`m using a diamond fire gl 1000 pro and used the xsuse server under
several distributions. it`s working great better then with my old matrox
mystique.
permedia 2 is from 3dlabs and oem products are made by diamond, creative
labs (4mb only version)

You can purchase Metro-X for $39 - I use it and it works fine. You do
need the patch from their web site however
