Need modelines for Riva TNT

Need modelines for Riva TNT

Post by Chuck Ludwigse » Sat, 31 Oct 1998 04:00:00

Hey folks,

I have my Creative Labs nVidia Riva TNT card working with my IBM P200 20"
monitor at 32bpp - 1280-1024.

However, I can't seem to get 1600x1200 working at any bpp.  Any suggestions on
what I should set the modelines to?

Thanks,

Chuck Ludwigsen

I got 1600x1200 working in all modes at 65Hz except 32bpp on my Velocity 4400.
Make sure 1600x1200 is defined in Modes under Display

Modeline "1600x1200"  176  1600 1664 1856 2160  1200 1201 1204 1250

 Subsection "Display"
        Depth       8
        # Omit the Modes line for the "Generic VGA" device
        Modes       "1600x1200"
        ViewPort    0 0
        Virtual 1600 1200
        # Use Virtual 320 200 for Generic VGA
    EndSubsection
    Subsection "Display"
        Depth       16
        Modes       "1600x1200" "640x480" "800x600" "1024x768" "1280x1024"
        ViewPort    0 0
    EndSubsection

1. Linux newbie in desperate need of some X windows RIVA TNT help

Hello,

I'm a relative newbie to the linux environment, but I've set it up on
two computers before and never run into this problem.
First the system: A PII 450 with 128 megs ram, AGP STB Velocity
4400(the TNT card), and Voodoo2 PCI card.
I'm trying to install Redhat 5.1 on this system and everything works
except X windows. When I startx it comes up so big (like 320x200 or
something close to that) that I can't do anything. The consensus has
been to get the newest version of XFree, which I've done and installed
(correctly I think because the RIVA TNT appears in xf86config now) but
it still does the exact same thing. What am I doing wrong?
Any suggestions would be well appreciated as I'm getting frustrated
enough just to go back to MS windows.
