Hello,

I am posting this for an "unconnected" friend.

Well, most of the problem is in the subject :o)

Linux is the slackware 3.3 found on infomagic 6_CD set

We just replaced XFree 3.3 by 3.3.1 in order to use his
graphic card.

The symptoms are when we use XF86Setup:

- the screen goes black (really BLACK, no signal)
- there is no mean to go back to a "normal" scrreen
either text or X11
- we can stop XF86Setup by ctrl-alt-F1 (blind) then ctrl-C
- we can reboot the box this way, but the screen is STILL
black

I am quite puzled because my Stealth 3D 2000 (not 2400 pro),
had been so easy to configure!

(BTW, we also tried my XF86Config file, with startx, but the
result was still a BLACK screen)

My friend tried the MetroX server, the screen opens NORMALLY,
but he only has 640x480 16 colours resolution, the server refuses
to use any higher resolution :o7

Does anybody have any idea about what the reason for this behaviour
could be.

this problem, you can flame me, but only by mail, please, I hate
being ridiculous in public :o)

make sure that your TV-OUT Display is turned off, otherwise you'll get
some wierd stuff. I have it running under normal 3.3 Slakware
Installation.
