Help - Video Resolution 800 x 600

Hi,
I am a newbie to Linux (Redhat 5.1) and I am using X Windows. My problem is
that I know that my Video Card (Trident 8900D) can support 800 x 600 16-bit
resolution but X only lets me have a 640 x 480 8-bit resolution.  I would
settle for 800 x 600 8-bit resolution in X but I cant seem to get that
either. Any help would be a great help. Respond to group or Email me at

yeah you should try messing around with the frequencies for your monitor
type,
i had the same problem as you, took me *y ages with loads of messing
around b4 it finally worked,

1. How to set 800*600 x windows resolution?

Can you kindly share your experience with me?
How to can the display resulution for x windows be set to 800*600?
I am using Redhat Linux version 6 on an Intel PC server.
I don't  know the specifics of the Video card, I think the chipset is
s3.
