I am interested in purchasing a #9 Reality 332 card and I
would like to know the experiences of other users running
the s3v XServer with this card.

Thanks in advance

have had some strange problems with xdm and random glitches, and you
need version 3.2, but other than that it seems pretty fine...

I have a Number Nine Reality 332 card with 2MB running a Dell
Trinitron.  I just installed XFree86 3.2 with the S3V server in Rad Hat
Linux 4.0.  The automatic probing seemed to work fine, I now have a
desktop with 1600x1200 virtual size, 1280x1024 physical size.  No
complaints yet, but I've only had it up 24 hours so far.  Good luck.

My recommendation is to avoid #9 products like the plague. My experience
with #9's customer support leads me to believe that they could give two
hoots in hell about what happens to their cards after they are sold.

When I upgraded to Win95, my #9 GXE64 started locking up while playing
Freecell. It took me 2 1/2 months of wrangling with #9 (and I'm no novice
at working customer support organizations or climbing the ladder when I
don't get satisfaction) to work out a deal where they would upgrade my GXE
to a Reality 332 for my old card + $100. At that, they required me to
remove my old card and ship it to them FIRST; then they took their sweet
*y time about shipping my replacement.

I wouldn't recommend a #9 product to my worst enemy.

1. Q: 800x600 or better from 9FX Reality 332 & XFree86?

I understand the Virge chipset in the 9FX Reality 332 video card that's
installed in the Dell Dimension I just received isn't supported in XFree86.
At the moment I don't need all the whiz-bang features I'll have access to
once the S3 server supports this new card, I just need 800x600 or better
resolution out of the thing.

I've been able to get it up in 640x480 w/ the VGA server. Does anybody know
of a way to go higher?
