resizing the "desktop"

resizing the "desktop"

Post by Doug Bolo » Tue, 23 Mar 1999 04:00:00

when I start x windows, the display is too big for my screen.  I have to
move the mouse to the edge of my monitor, then the screen will scroll.  It
will scroll in every direction.  This is a pain.  I can't see my entire
desktop at one time.  Is this a resolution issue?  How can I resolve this?
Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Edit the /etc/X11/XF86Config file.  Under the screens section, change the
virtual to the same as your modes.

Try using the ctrl-alt-+ key (+ key on the numeric keypad); each time you
hit it, it cycles through the various resolutions set in your config files
