X with Number Nine 9FX Reality 332

[sorry, I already posted this as a reply (accidentally) ]

Hi,

I just bought Linux, not realizing the complexities of getting X windows
running.  It seems I don't have a supported graphics card.  It's the

Number Nine 9FX Reality 332

My PC is a Dell Dimension XPS 200MHz Pentium.  The card was standard
with the machine, so I would have thought it was pretty common.

Anybody out there with a similar system with some advice as to what
I can do to get X running on my machine??

Thanks,

Hilary Oliver

I have a Pentium 133 system with the same card. If you want to get X
Windows running you need to download the new version of X Windows,
version 3.2. You can get more info and sites to download X windows at:
        http://www.XFree86.com

If you don't want to download all of these files you can run X Windows
with the VGA16 server.

You can install the X Window System 3.2 from the InfoMagic LDR Dec'96
(see ftp.fortuna.org:/pub/linux/Debian/X-on-Debian1.2-InfoMagic.txt)

I have a numbernine reality 332 as you, and to configure your card in
xfree86, you have to use xfree 3.2 and select as server in xf86config
XF86_S3V because the chip of our card is S3 virge I hope to have been
useful, see you. Of course you can run xfree as a common svga 16 colors.
