Double X Window Pointer

Hi all...

I've recently reinstalled the whole of my Linux partition using the 6-CD
Infomagic set of Dec. 1996, Slackware distribution...

And for the first time, I've encountered a rather weird problem. I got
my X-windows tuned up (again) and working perfectly, under fvwm95,
except for one thing. My mouse pointer at max resolution (1240x1024 or
something like that. I keep forgetting my highest setting :P ) is..
well.. um.. doubled. It's as if there's a fake 'mirror' of the pointer
there, a few mms vertically away... That only happens at the highest
res.

Er.. any tips ? I'm a bit baffled, this has never happened to me before,
nor did a perusal of the docs/howtos turn up anything..

I had the same problem with a CLGD5434 and solved it by disabling hardware
cursor as explain in cirrus.doc

I to have question:
  Example:  set   var   "client_name"            - client_name is this
name variable
            set   client_name "Baryshev A.G."
            puts  $var
            >client_name
            Can I to do somehow "puts $$var" ---> Baryshev A.G. ???
