Problem compiling kernel on using a scsi disk

I was not sure where to post this question so I decided to put
it here. I installed slackware v 3.0.0 on a p100 machine w/ a
adaptec 2940, a SCSI seagate 2GB dirve and a SCSI cdrom. It
installs and works fine but i want to install a new kernel to
support another piece of hardware and i have a problem. It
compiles fine untill the end when it seems to compress it. it
comes up with the following error: I had it installed before on
a IDE drive and it worked fine, but I wanted more disk space so
I added the seagate. I have also tried compiling it by doing a
make bzImage and I still receive the same error. anyone have any
suggestions???
