What does the message in the Subject mean? I get it when I start some
applications. I'm using XFree86-4.1.0 on RedHat 7.2.

Just that the RENDER extension (does font anti-aliasing for one) is not
supported for your card.  AFAIK it is otherwise harmless.
If you do "xdpyinfo |grep RENDER" it will return RENDER if your card can
use this extension. (or is supported to do so.
