XFree86-4.0 NVIDIA resolution problem.

XFree86-4.0 NVIDIA resolution problem.

Post by Caerbanno » Mon, 29 May 2000 04:00:00

I have installed the new drivers from nvidia with my Diamond V770 (A
TNT2) and I more that happy with everything apart from the loss of my
1600x1200 resolution. If I have the following section in my XF86Config
file I can use 1600x1200

Section "Device"
    Identifier    "Diamond Viper 770"
    Driver        "nv"

But if I change the line

Driver    "nv"

Driver    "nvidia"

I can no longer use the resolution. All other resolution work and when I
use the "nvidia" driver I have no other problems apart from this. Any
help would be appreciated.

1. Problems with NVidia's OpenGL (GLX-1.0.1251) under XFree86-4.1.0

    I've got Riva TNT M 64  32MB RAM,
XFree86-4.1.0 (from www.xfree86.org) upgraded manually
RedHat 6.0
kernel: linux-2.2.16
Kernel part of NVidia's driver works fine,
I'm in trouble when I want to use OpenGL applications
with latest Detonator NVidia's drivers (1.0.1251).
I can't load GLX module successfully (eg. startx ).
glxinfo shows strange info about not matching headers
from libGL.so.1 (I have quite detail introduction how to
install NVidia's drivers under Linux -especially GLX
I'm have no idea what is wrong with my configuration!!!
Is it possible to run drivers (NVIDIA_*1.0-1251.tar.gz)
with XFree86-4.1.0 and linux-2.2.16 ?
I have no AGP support ( e.g. AGPgart )...

Thanks for any advance.
