I am trying the same thing (M53 as well). Although the
README.trident file says that  3.2.1b has partial support for
the Trident 9660, I have not been able to squeeze any support
from it yet. Please let me know if you meet with success and I will
do the same.

Just as a side-comment while waiting for XF86 finally supporting the
TGUI series and really use the accelerator part, Accellerated-X does
support the 9660/9680. All depths, and fully accelerated. If you got
the time, just check out the free demo. If you think you really need
it you can buy it or not ;-) Just to make waiting shorter.

this is no "side-comment" but a *commercial*.

please use appropirate groups for your commercial postings,
uninvited commercials are unlawful in many countries and I'm not interested
in paying the german PTT (Telekom AG) for commercials!

I appreciate techincal comments from you and your company but stop commercials here,

I don't know, it sounded to me like he was simply trying to offer the
original poster a working solution to his problem. I thought it was
entirely appropriate.

1. Trident TGUI 9660/968x/968x cannot be setup with X

For a computer with a Trident TGUI 9660/968x/968x that is detected by
Red Hat 7.3 ( using the setup program ), after completing the XF86
installation, the screen goes blank.

ctrl-atl-bcksp does not release.

must power down to reboot ( i think ).

suggestions?

also, does setup detect the video card memory?  i keep selecting 1mb
because thats what the cursor selects...could setting the wrong amount
of memory cause the problem, or is this card just so old and useless
that i should pop a new cheapo vide card in the box.

it's a dev machine at work so i really don't want to spend money on
it.

thanking you in advance....
