Hello --
I run Redhat Linux 8.0 (vanilla 2.4.18 kernel, NOT the RedHat one), with
XFree86 4.2.0 and nVidia 1.0-3123 drivers. I have noticed that if I run
The system appears to continue running normally - network software continues
to run normally (the Ethernet switch remains busy), the mouse can move so
USB (and therefore the kernel) is still functioning, and I can ssh into the
machine, so this isn't a full hardware lock up, just the display.
If I run the clients in terminal mode (runlevel three, no X-Window), I do
not get these lockups.
I originally thought it was a temperature problem - one of the CPUs sits
right above the GeForce II, and vents its hot air onto it. However, after
running the distributed.net client for the same amount of time (which makes
the CPUs even hotter), there is no lock up (at least not yet).
Any ideas?
