PEX and XIE extention modules not loaded

Post by Adam C. Lew » Wed, 08 Jan 1997 04:00:00

I'm trying to set up X.  I'm using debian and when the config utility ran it
seemed to work okay.  Then when I tried running it, it loaded and then
terminated with the errors:

        PEX extention module not loaded
        XIE extention module not loaded

Does anybody have any idea what that means and how to fix it?  And another
question for Debian/X users, how do I run the X config utility again?  It ran
itself when I installed X using dselect, but how do I run it again?

Thanks.

Hallo
You have to tell X to load these modules
Just add the following lines to your XF86Config

Section "modules"
Load "pex5.so"
Load "xie.so"
EndSection

Now it should work.(Perhaps you have to remove the quotationmarks
surrounding modules)

Not important to get X running (Translation: I don't know what they
do, but X runs for me without them!).

Look in the .xsession-errors file.  You might find some clues in there.

Sorry, but I missed the start of this thread and would like some
clarification. I have the same errors (PEX and XIE). How do I resolve
this? do I place a modules section in the XF86Config file? I looked for
the format in several files and found no "modules" section or "Module"

Thank you in advance,

Ed Young

1. PEX & XIE extention modules?

In the startx log that is generated before X crashes
the last line is
PEX extention module not loaded
XIE extention module not loaded

What are these?  Where should they be loaded?  Could this
be why X crashes every time?  Thanks,
