Very Computer

Hi,
I can't seem to get anything to run with my s3 trio64v+ card under
xwindows.  The screen is simply blank, and even the keyboard does
not function.  Could someone who has been successful with this card
under x-windows help me with the configuration, please?
I'm running slakware 3.0 with a 2.07 kernel on a 133 mhz 686 + 32 mbyte
memory.

I used the same card. Does not give me any problems. I believe you may not have
configured your mouse properly. Does ctrl backspace works? Try playing around with
the mouse type.

Sounds like you're suffering from the "S3 and over 16 MB RAM" bug. It's listed
in the XFree86 3.12E release notes. I quote:

8.System lockups can occur when using the S3 server with Trio64V+ based cards.
One workaround that seems to work is to copy the server binary to the
     null device (i.e. cp XF86_S3 /dev/null), immediately before starting the
server.

If you're not using XFree86 3.12E, I recommend you update to it. The S3
server is much more capable. Hope this helps.
