Netscape 2.0 - Keysyms problem (backspace and delete key problems)

Post by Jonathan Ca » Thu, 14 Mar 1996 04:00:00

I'm running netbloat 2.0 on linux 1.2.13 (all ELF except for
netscape).  Netscape works fine except for the backspace key eats
characters to the right of the cursor instead of eating chars to the
left of the cursor.  The Delete key does the same.  I tried setting
the environment variable (I can't remember what it's called now) to
point at the XKeySymDB that comes with netscape (before starting
netscape, of course) but this seems to have no effect.

Any suggestions on how to get "normal" behavior out of the backspace
key?  I assume I need a change or addition in my KeysymDB file but I
don't know what to do.

1. newbie question: backspace key in Netscape is acting like the delete key

<if this is a repeat I apologize, for some reason the campus news server is
acting up and none of my posts went through...>

whenever I hit the backspace key in Netscape 405 it deleted the
character to the right of the cursor, basically acting like the delete
key.  This only seems to occur in Netscape.  If you have any ideas on
how to fix this, I would greatly appreciate it.  thanks ahead of time.

ps: running RedHat 5.0
