keyboard lockup on exit

Post by Andy Norm » Sat, 18 Mar 1995 21:55:53

Folks,

I find that when I either leave X or switch to a virtual terminal, there is a
good chance that my keyboard will totally lock.  I can still login via the
network to reboot, however.  ;-(

Has anybody seen this before, and if so, how do I fix it?

My configuration is:

  Toshiba T4500C laptop.  486/20 processor.  20MB memory.  203MB disk.
  X11_SVGA server.  wd90c10 mode for wd90c26 chipset.
  Slackware 2.whatever.
  Linux '95 1.2.0 kernel.
  XFree 3.1.1.

Thanks in advance.

1. keyboard lockup when exiting X

I have a feeling I am doing something very stupid, but I can't seem to
find any info on this problem in the FAQs or HOWTOs ...

Sometimes when I exit X, my keyboard locks up ... no input seems to reach
the OS, switching VTs doesn't work, Ctrl-Alt-Del doesn't work, nothing.
The machine is still up (I can log in across the net) and I see no odd
processes running, but I can only get the keyboard back by rebooting.

I am running a 1.2.13 kernel (I installed from Slackware 3.0) with pcmcia
2.7.5 on a Toshiba 400CDT notebook.  XFree86 reports version 3.1.2 and seems
to work fine, except for this problem.

Any ideas?

thanks!
