I think I need to modify the monitor section of my /etc/XF86Config file.
I'm running Mandrake 5.3 (essentially Redhat 5.2 + KDE 1.1) and kernel
2.2.3.
I got the following info from my /etc/XF86Config file.
My 17" monitor can handle:
HorizSync 30-85, VertRefresh 50-120.
The modeline:
Modeline "1024x768" 85 1024 1032 1152 1360 768 784 787 823
is being used because the "best standard mode that your monitor and
video card can support for a given resolution is automatically used".
My monitors flip-down control panel shows horizontal sync is 62.2 kHz
and vertical refresh is 75 Hz
My question: Would modifying the mode line increase screen refresh
rates? If so, how would I change this mode line to give 85 Hz? I read
man XF86Conf and a few other sources but can't seem to find how to do
this. Thanks in advance for any help.
