After I built gnucash with Slackware 7 when I run (with debugging on) I
get this:

The problem seems to be the "ERROR: Unbound variable: gnc:*share-dir*".

Anyone have any ideas?

1. Problems with Gnucash

When I attempt to open Gnucash, I get the following error message:

Gnucash could not find the lock for /home/john/cash/gnucash012903.LCK

That database may be in use by another user, in which case you should
not open the database

What would you like to do ?
Quit ?
Open anyway?
Create new file?
Clicking "open anyway" results in the error message " the file
/home/john/cash/gnucash012903.LCK" could not be found.

Creating a new file results in the same problem the next time you open
the new file.

The ".LCK" files exist ,of course, in the same directory as the main file.

Can anyone tells me what is going on. The problem does not seem to be
with the file permissions.
I am running Red Hat 8.0 (Psyche) and Gnucash 1.7.6 (built 2002-12-23)

Can anyone help with this predicament?
