|   Hi, I just got Linux and am having problems configuring X.  I am getting
|   conflicting informaion.  Some sources say that the Virge Reality 332 S3

The current version of XFree does not support it. Neither do
Metrolinks commercial X-server. FTTB, the only X-server supporting it
is the brand new AcceleratedX from Xinside (http://www.xinside.com/)
which costs about $119.

Hello,

First, I must say that you are mixing names:
the video card that you are talking about is a "#9 (brand) FX Reality
332 (type)".
It makes use of a "S3 (brand) ViRGE (type)" graphics accelerator
chipset.

I have that card also, and have found out the following information that
I quote from an automatic receival confirmation e-mail from the XFree86
Consortium:

"If you are looking for support for the S3 ViRGE, S3 ViRGE/VX, or Matrox
Millenium, there will be a driver available in the upcomming XFree86-3.2
that should be available around the end of October."

Most questions by the way are answered in their FAQ:

This information about S3 ViRGE chipsets is not up to date in the FAQ
though.

So, It looks like we'll have to be patient for a few weeks...
