Post by nelson ch » Tue, 01 Aug 1995 04:00:00

Is there S3 968 X-server exist? I have tried S3 928 X-server which is stated
compatible with S3 968 in the user guide of Diamond Stealth 64 vedio, but
it doesn't work. X-prob. can't find the clock speed.

Is there any suggestion? Please help.

XFree86-3.1.2 supports this card (due out these days), if you aren't
patient enough you can get the 3.1.1u2 S3 server binary for Linux from
susite; that works fine, too.

1. Diamond Stealth 64 Video 3000 series S3 968 card, RedHat 3.0.3 Linux

I am using ( well, trying to use! ) a Diamond Stealth 64 Video card
( I think it's a 3240 ) under RedHat Linux 3.0.3 (. I KNOW it's got;
S3968 chipset,
ti3026 ramdac and ti3026 programmable clock
2048k Video Ram and a DAC speed of 135
The chipset driver is mio_928
( X -probe told me this!! ).

    When I invoke X-windows, it starts and I get an X-term window
of sorts, but the following symptoms occur;
(*) The visual part of the screen ( the resolution of which appears
    to be very poor ) is but a portal upon a larger virtual screen
    ( 1280x1024? )
(*) What should be the very left hand side of the screen appears
    upon the very right hand side of the screen.

    If anybody out there has successfully coerced one of these boards
to run X-Windows properly ( and knows how/why ) then I'd really like
to hear from you as I'm currently typing this message from within
Netscape running under Windows'95 and I'd much rather be doing it
under Linux instead!

    Thanks for any help you can render me,

Dave Young
