Cirrus Logic GD5424/ #9 Imagine I128

Hi,
Has anyone set up X for a Imagine I128 as shipped with the Dell XPS200
PPro?  According to SuperProbe the I128 has a CL-GD5424 graphics chipset
with 512k and a Number Nine Imagine I128 series 2 accelerator with 4Mb.
After much trial and much, much more error I gave up trying to get the
accelerator to work and simply configured it as a CL-GD5424 with 512k.
Unfortunately even this didn't work - X loaded up fine but the screen
doesn't refresh properly: the xload icon goes blank and xterms don't
display a prompt.  If no one has atempted to set one of these up, has
anyone set up a graphics card + accelerator combo of any description, and
how?
Many thanks,
